I‘m getting into the true spirit of summer spending as much time out in the wilderness hiking, swimming, biking, etc. I guess I’m trying to keep with the spirit of people from the Pacific Northwest during the summer… being weird. :) Today I’m just preparing some last things getting ready to start another camping adventure for the next few days. And I hope to capture a few more good photos to throw up on my web page. If you haven’t checked it out, please take a little look around. (www.aphorstphoto.com)

Other than that I’ve been working as much as I can find work to help me survive our time home not being on the road. Also have just started recording for my other band (also with Dan) called Teachers. I don’t really have any idea when we will be releasing any material.. but keep your ears peeled! (is it possible to keep an ear peeled?) Peeled ears are weird.

I added 10 news photos to www.aphorstphoto.com this afternoon. Most of these photos are from a photo-taking trip that I took in early June all around Washington State. It was an absolutely breathtaking experience to see a lot of my state that I hadn’t yet seen in my 15 years living in Washington. At over 600 miles traveled in just a few days, I saw some incredibly diverse weather, land, etc. It was over 80 degrees at one stop, and I got stuck in the snow in another. Ridiculous.

On the 4th of July this year, I played music for a friend’s wedding so nearly missed all of the celebrations with my family. So right when I got home, I grabbed a couple ladders on got up on the roof of my parent’s house and snapped a few fun little long exposure shots.

After messing around a little bit with them, I started examining them a little bit closer and started noticing how the light from the fireworks almost literally painted the light in the photo.

The first photo : 6 second exposure at f / 2.8 at 11mm, 320 ISO

The second photo is just the 1st image at 100%. Notice how it almost looks like a painting.

Greetings fellow earthlings,
We in This Prov have just wrapped up about a week of writing. It was the most prolific and successful writing session I’ve ever been a part of. We are stoked on making this new record as it will be the most cohesive and collaborative project we’ve created yet. After nearly two months off the road, it feels so good to just be playing music again. It feels so weird being home, pretending to be a normal person again, and then all of a sudden jumping back in to “band mode.”

I’m stoked for this writing process. It’s already much more organic than any way we’ve approached it before. Keep your eyes and oranges peeled.

Not being on Warped Tour, but having a lot of friends that are, is kinda like being the one single person of all your friends: you kinda wish you were there, because it sounds like fun. But once you actually are there, its sweaty and gross and monotonous and you have to share all of your personal space and you wanna be done with it.

50 year old Alex Peder of who cares in Washington state was drunk and rear ended a car on I-5 South and killed 2 young men and injured a 3rd a week or so ago. The two boys who died were supposed to graduate this week before their lives were stolen from them.

I’m sure many of you can relate to the excitement I’m sure these dudes had. Just another week or so and they would have finished one of the biggest chapters of their lives to date: high school. They had just gone to their senior prom, probably were finishing up their final projects and finals when some selfish bastard like Peder with an open bottle of vodka on his passenger seat decides he’s ok to drive home from the bar and MURDERS the two boys by rear ending their stalled car.

I am normally an advocate for grace but in cases like this I think Alex Peder should be castrated and fed to rabid wolves. He has two previous DUI’s on his record, one in 1999 and one in 2008 with little to no real penalty. (His 2008 DUI was sentenced with 10 hours of community service!! WHAT!?) And the maximum penalty for vehicular homicide is 3 years for each victim killed in Washington State. The two dudes just lost their lives because of Peder’s selfish and ridiculous decision.

6 years in prison hardly seems fair to compensate for the pain of the familes, friends, the community, and the high school of those 2 dudes, especially knowing that the moron Peder will just go and do it again.

Do you think 6 years is enough, or do you think he should be thrown in prison for life, or should he lose his own life for the lives he’s taken?
