Hello blog world. I think I once said that I wasn’t going to apologize at the beginning of my blogs anymore for how little I seem to get around to posting them anymore… so instead… I’ll start this one with a threat! Read me… or else! Anyways, I’ll save the life updates for later. I just wanted to highlight this, and explain this photo really quick.
Last month I tagged along with my buddy John to help him out with a Help Portrait event he was hosting at the World Relief Christmas party. Not sure how much help I was in the long run, but it was a really awesome thing to watch, learn, and be a part of in my own little part. If you’ve never heard of Help Portrait or World Relief, you need to check them out.
So this photo was one of the test shots for the Help Portrait. John is an incredible photographer and is super inspiring to watch and be around. I think I’ve been challenged and am slowly learning to let go of some of the perfectionist aspects of my personality. You don’t become great without practice. You don’t help other people along the way unless you reach out a hand and help. You don’t succeed unless you try. I’m not gonna have better photos if I don’t shoot them. I’m not gonna be a better drummer unless I play. I’m not gonna be a better person if I don’t try.
